PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin)

WHAT IS PRF?

Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a regenerative treatment that uses a small sample of your own blood to concentrate platelets, growth factors, and healing proteins. These natural components are then injected or applied to the skin to stimulate tissue repair, collagen production, and rejuvenation.

PRF is considered a next-generation advancement of PRP because it contains higher concentrations of healing cells and releases growth factors more slowly over time.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

PRF works by stimulating the body’s natural healing processes.

During treatment: A small blood sample is drawn - The blood is spun in a centrifuge - Platelets, fibrin, stem cells, and growth factors are separated - The PRF is injected or applied to the treatment area. The fibrin matrix slowly releases growth factors over time, which encourages: Collagen production, improved cirulation, tissue regeneration, improved skin quality.

WHAT AREAS CAN YOU TREAT?

PRF can be used for multiple aesthetic and regenerative purposes including:

  • Under-eye rejuvenation (dark circles and hollows)

  • Facial rejuvenation

  • Microneedling enhancement

  • Acne scar improvement

  • Fine lines and skin texture

  • Hair restoration

  • Neck and décolleté rejuvenation

HOW TO PREPARE FOR PRF APPOINTMENT?

Before Your PRF Treatment

To ensure optimal platelet quality and minimize bruising:1–3 days before treatment hydrate well (this improves platelet yield), avoid alcohol, avoid NSAIDs if medically appropriate (ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin).

24 hours before: Avoid strenuous exercise, avoid excessive sun exposure, eat a healthy meal prior to your appointment.

Day of treatment: Arrive well hydrated, eat beforehand to prevent lightheadedness, avoid heavy makeup on treatment area, inform your provider of: blood thinners, autoimmune conditions, active infections, pregnancy or breastfeeding.

After Your PRF Treatment

Immediately After: Mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur. Small bumps at injection sites may be visible for several hours.

First 24 hours: Avoid strenuous exercise, avoid alcohol, avoid touching or massaging the area, avoid makeup for at least 12 hours.

First 48 hours: Avoid excessive heat (sauna, hot tubs, steam rooms), avoid intense sun exposure, sleep with head elevated if treated under the eyes.

First Week: Continue gentle skincare, avoid aggressive exfoliation or active ingredients if microneedling was performed.

Results Timeline: Early improvement: 2–4 weeks; Collagen stimulation: 4–12 weeks; Continued improvement for 3–6 months

Most patients benefit from a series of 2–3 treatments spaced 4–8 weeks apart.
